Grace CommunityWorks
As important as financial contributions are, at times the greatest donation is something
much more personal: time. Many Grace employees volunteer with charitable organizations,
whether for a few hours or a few weeks.
In 2005, we formalized the company's volunteering efforts under the CommunityWorks
program - to encourage greater employee participation, as well as recognize those
whose work has improved the communities they live in. Employees from a number of
locations are given paid time off to volunteer with selected CommunityWorks agency
partners (ranging from organizations representing hurricane relief, senior support
and youth activities to environmental conservation and student initiatives, among
many others). The program is currently available to more than 1,000 employees based
in the United States.
Through the CommunityWorks program, Grace employees joined thousands of other volunteers
in renovating or remodeling buildings, thus improving the quality of life for individuals
and families in their areas:

Grace volunteers worked side-by-side with the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese
Speakers in painting its headquarters as part of United Way’s Community Care Day.

Grace volunteers gave the Arlington Boys & Girls Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts
an extreme makeover. They repainted rooms, repaired a worn playground, cleaned out
the attic, washed windows and performed badly needed yard chores, giving the place
a whole new glow.

In Maryland, a Grace team came together to compete in remodeling a local YMCA childcare
center. The competition was tough but Grace's room was selected as the best by the
judges!
