Teacher Development

Since 1997, Grace has sponsored teachers to attend the Key Issues Institute, a week-long environmental training workshop held in Colorado. By supporting educators interested in sustainability, we support generations of students that will pass through these educators’ classrooms.

The company is currently recruiting interested educators for the 2012 workshop experience that involves the simulation of local environmental issues. Teachers pursuing advanced degrees can earn two graduate-level credits for attending the workshop from the Colorado School of Mines.

Dates and Location:
The 2012 sessions are scheduled for June 26-July 1, July 10-15 and July 24-29. They will all take place in Silverthorne, a city located outside Denver.

Selection Criteria:
In order to qualify, participants must be U.S. middle level teachers (grades 5 to 9) that teach core subject areas (science, social studies, math or language arts). The teachers must be innovative and possess strong communication and leadership skills, as well as an interest in teaching sustainability.

Costs:
There are no costs to teachers. The Grace sponsorships cover the workshop and related travel. There is no application fee.
