Molecular Sieve Beads
Grace Davison molecular sieve beads combine the highly selective adsorption properties of Zeolites with high mechanical integrity due to advanced manufacturing and de-dusting technologies.
After synthesis, each zeolite crystal is only a few microns across. To be of use in fixed bed adsorption processes, it is necessary to form particles in the range of 0.5 – 5mm (4 – 36 mesh) in diameter. Within the above range, a wide selection of particle sizes can be produced to suit the specific needs of the customer.
Grace Davison's expertise in molecular sieve beading has led to optimized bead properties for various application requirements. Let us give you four examples:
-
Using a special de-dusting process during production, our PHONOSORB® sieves for the Insulating Glass industry have an extremely low dust content and very high attrition resistance
- For regenerative applications like petrochemicals drying with SYLOBEAD® adsorbents, special binders are applied; this gives our SYLOBEAD® molecular sieves a high stability against contaminants in the feed stream, thus allowing a long unit lifetime
-
For refrigeration applications , extra strong beads with a superior crush strength have been developed
-
For special natural gas purification processes using SYLOBEAD® adsorbents, Grace has developed highly specialized grades suppressing unwanted chemical side reactions
The information gained from decades of research has shown that the usage of bead-shaped bodies for pneumatic conveying and the application in adsorber columns is the optimal solution due to the outstanding mechanical characteristics and excellent adsorption rate properties. Grace Davison therefore concentrates exclusively on the production of beads.
