SHIELDEX® Anti-corrosive Pigments Protection Mechanism
The above schematic representation demonstrates how aggressive ions permeating the paint film.
Such ions can be adsorbend on the silica surface. At the same time, the release and subsequent migration of the calcium ions lead to the formation of a protective layer
on the surface of the metal substrate. Thus, the anti-corrosive mechnism of SHIELDEX® anti-corrosive pigments is two-fold:
Adsorption of aggressive ions (A) and the formation of a protective layer on the substrate (B).
