SYLOBEAD® Drying / Purification Adsorbents
for Refining Applications
Molecular sieves are used regularly for the drying and purification of feedstocks for refinery applications such as
-
Isomerization,
- Alkylation, and
- Reforming,
thereby improving operating performance and product quality.
These processes often use catalysts sensitive to impurities in the feed
which need to be protected by a feed purification step using SYLOBEAD® molecular sieves.
In addition, the removal of other impurities with molecular sieves can improve the quality of the final product.
Examples for the variety of applications in this field:
- Hydrocarbon gas drying with molecular sieves, prior to cryogenic extraction of LPG, to avoid ice and hydrate formation
- Alkylation and isomerization feed drying: Removal of water for catalyst protection and corrosion prevention using molecular sieves
- Drying and purification of feed streams for MTBE and butamer production
- LPG sweetening and butane destenching
- Molecular sieves also function as non-regenerative chloride traps to prevent chloride contamination from attacking catalysts downstream and to avoid corrosion
- Dehydration of hydrogen in reformer regeneration train dehydration of FCC off-gases
- Purification in the hydrogen PSA unit including dehydration, hydrocarbon recovery, and removal of CO2, CO, and other compounds
- Separation of normal and iso-paraffins: For detergent and fuel production
